Governance and Regulation
We intend to investigate how social control takes place with the sharing and centralization of databases and the use of surveillance technologies and why the protection of personal data should be explicitly placed on a social justice agenda. This line encompasses research, analysis, and actions within this [emerging] field, seeking to understand the role of digital platforms, regulators, and civil society, nationally and internationally, so that the creation of standards and the guarantee of rights follow rapid technological and social changes.
Our objective is to ensure effectiveness in the application of data protection standards and in the implementation of fundamental rights. We maintain that this has to be done from a multisectoral perspective, attentive to regional and local particularities, in a collaborative way, building networks.
