For the third consecutive year, Data Privacy Brasil will participate in the Digital Rights and Inclusion Forum (DRIF). DRIF – formerly known as the Internet Freedom Forum (IFF) – is an annual forum organized by Paradigm Initiative (PIN), since 2013, to be a space for discussions on global issues related to digital rights and inclusion. Over the years, the DRIF has established itself as a key platform for advancing discussions on digital policies in the Global South. Also, the forum has been instrumental in strengthening the Global South Alliance, which has both PIN and Data Privacy Brasil, along with Aapti Institute, in its Steering Committee.

In this year’s edition, Data Privacy Brasil had two panels approved, focusing on international processes of governance and digital cooperation. One of them addresses the Global Digital Compact (GDC), while the other discusses South Africa’s G20 presidency.

The focus of this first panel relies on the discussion of the relationship between data solidarity, the Sustainable Development Goals and the implementation of the UN’s Global Digital Compact, in order to build a fair and equitable digital ecosystem and infrastructure. The second panel aims to provide conversations on potential engagement opportunities in the G20 process, particularly within its engagement groups, such as the Think20 (T20) on topics like data governance and data justice, considering that these issues have taken on a central role during Brazil’s G20 presidency in 2024 and continue to do so under South Africa’s presidency in 2025.

The 2025 edition of DRIF will take place in Lusaka, Zambia, between April 29th and May 1st.
