Podcast | Expanding the role of Public Defender’s Offices in protecting personal data in Brazil | Asymmetries and Power
Public Defenders and Data Justice
Between April and May 2022, we launched a special series of our podcast, Dadocracy. This special series was dedicated to the Public Defenders’ role in the protection of personal data. With this, we intended to promote an accessible reflection, about the relationship between social justice, structural problems in Brazil and data protection. Over four episodes, we addressed the negative effects of the datification of society through key cases and themes, such as public policies, facial recognition, photographic recognition, citizenship and digital exclusion. With this, we sought to highlight the intrinsic relationships between new technologies, the massive treatment of personal data and the creation and/or reproduction of violence, discrimination and racism.
