AI with Rights
Objective: The “AI with Rights” project aims to raise awareness about the importance of a citizen-based and rights-centered regulation of Artificial Intelligence in Brazil. The project aims to advance a rights-centered agenda of AI regulation at three levels: implementation of the Brazilian AI Strategy, federal legislation on AI in the country, and international norms supported by Brazil.

Description
The regulation of systems and software that use Artificial Intelligence (AI) has become a central issue in democracies due to the potential harm that such systems can cause to the exercise of fundamental rights.
In Brazil, the dispute over AI regulation is marked by an inequality of forces, highlighting the need to expand discussions on the topic in areas such as labor law, sustainability, child protection, gender-based violence, information integrity, and scientific advancement. To address this challenge, we have developed a strategy based on three main pillars: raising awareness among civil entities, creating a broad civil alliance, and promoting a positive agenda on AI regulation.
Based on these pillars, we focus on three institutional levels: implementing the Brazilian AI Strategy, drafting a federal law by the National Congress, and signing international treaties and standards on the subject by Brazil.
We work to create a scenario in which Artificial Intelligence is regulated in a fair and inclusive manner, promoting a more equitable and informed society. Through the “AI with Rights” project, we seek to engage civil society, influence public policies and ensure that AI in Brazil respects and promotes the rights of all citizens.
